Noble steel alloys short-term outlook February 2022
Report summary
Noble alloys prices have been well supported in early 2022, as demand recovers following the easing of pandemic-related restrictions. Molybdenum prices remain elevated, with market tightness set to continue into 2022 due to weak production growth. Ferroniobium prices have remained stable so far this year, but niobium supply is set to increase following the commissioning of new capacity. Rising vanadium production in South Africa and Brazil will result in a shrinking market deficit in 2022 before returning to surplus in 2023.
