After acquiring Hartebeestfontein in mid-1999, DRD consolidated the management of Buffelsfontein and Hartes into one operating unit, which it refers to as the North West Operations. Accordingly post-2000 production from Buffelsfontein is included in the analysis shown here for Hartebeestfontein as combined North West Operations. DRDGold placed the North West Operations into provisional liquidation in 2005.
