Pinos Altos is a combined open-pit and underground operation with ore processed via heap leaching and milling options to produce a gold-silver dore on-site. Higher grade ore is processed by crushing, grinding and gravity concentration in a 5.5kt/d Merrill-Crowe circuit while lower grade ore is heap leached for overall recoveries of 93% for gold and 43% for silver. In 2017, the mine produced 181koz of gold and 2.5Moz of silver. In 2018, Pinos Altos is expected to transition into a predominantly underground mining operation. A number of satellite deposits within close proximity to Pinos Altos have been identified with potential to extend mine life of the operation. In addition to the Pinos Altos mine, Agnico Eagle also operates the nearby Creston Mascota deposit which is the subject of separate analysis.
