Platosa is a high-grade carbonate-replacement deposit being mined through Pilot and Slask underground mining method. The ore is transported 220km south of Platosa to Miguel Auza. There ore is processed at a 350tpd concentrator that produces silver-lead and silver-zinc concentrates. The mine is located in the state of Durango and approximately 45km north of the city of Torreon. In 2015, Excellon commissioned a Mine Dewatering Project because the mine operations extend below the water table, causing groundwater inflows to exceed pumping capacity. This was followed by the Mine Dewatering Project Phase 2 in 2018.
