Capital costs for Ronnbacken's development were estimated at US$1668M. The project still needed to undergo an environmental impact assessment before it could obtain its 25 year mining licence. According to the December 2011 Preliminary Economic Assesment (PEA) the project still required environmental and building permits, applications for which were submitted to the regulatory authorities in Q2 2013 and Q4 2014 respectively. While the company had scoped the work required for a prefeasibility study (PFS) in 2014 there have been no recent updates on the projects progress.
