Report summary
Sadiola is located 80km south of the town of Kayes and near the Senegal-Mali border. The mine poured its first gold in December 1996 and has produced over 8.4 Moz of gold. The current operation consists of two open pits (Sadiola Main and FE3) mining oxide and transitional ore processed through a 5Mtpa oxide processing facility. The permit for the mine was granted in August 1994 and was held via a JV company SEMOS. Mining activities ceased in H1 2018 due to the depletion of oxide ore and the process plant continued to treat lowgrade stockpiles until Q2 2021. Allied Gold acquired the operation in January 2021 after purchasing AngloGold’s and IAMGOLD’s 80% interest in SEMOS.
