Report summary

Sonshi Mareto Sodo is a complex comprised of two small surface mines, Sonshi and Mareto Sodo, and is approximately 1,400 kilometres south-east of New Delhi in the Indian state of Goa. The mine is operated by Vedanta Limited. Iron ore mining in the state of Goa recommenced in 2014 after a two year ban and Vedanta re-started its operations in late-2015 but are limited to producing 5.5 Mtpa (dry). Of this, Sonshi Mareto Sodo would be expected to produce 0.9 Mtpa (dry). In 2016, Sonshi Mareto Sodo exceeded it's quota by an estimated 0.7 Mt (dry) and we expect it to maintain this higher level of production.
