Report summary
The Leveaniemi mine is South Division (Svappavaara)'s only operating mine after the depletion of Gruvberget and the closure of Mertainen. It is LKAB's only open pit mine and is located in the Svappavaara region of Sweden, 40 kilometres southeast of Kiruna. Production from Leveaniemi re-started in 2015 after being drained and is slowly ramping up. We expect production to stay around 5 Mtpa, provided unscheduled stoppages at the Svappavaara pelleting plant do not occur.
