Report summary

In 1980 a new company Padaeng Industry Co was set up with 43% ownership by the Thai government 47% by Sino Thai Engineering and Construction and 10% Bangkok Bank to develop the Mae Sod zinc silicate deposit and to construct a zinc refinery. In 1981 the Belgian companies Mechim and Vieille Montagne (VM) took up a 30% interest and provided leaching know how. The project was delayed as a result of the Vietnam war but construction started in early 1983 and was completed in late 1984...
