Torreon zinc smelter
Report summary
The zinc smelter was commissioned in 1973 with a capacity of 100kt/a, the original earlier site operation comprising a lead-silver smelting plant only. It now forms part of an integrated metallurgical complex including lead smelter, lead refinery, silver refinery and other by-product plants. It is supported by the Bermejillo Plant, which produces zinc oxide, zinc dust, zinc sulphate, cadmium oxide, copper sulphate and antimony oxide.
