Report summary
Operated by Umicore Finland Oy, the Kokkola cobalt refining plant is located in Kokkola in Western Finland. The cobalt chemical portion of the plant is wholly owned by Umicore SA. The plant produces cobalt sulphate and cobalt tetroxide from crude cobalt hydroxide. The plant has a capacity of 3.5 ktpa cobalt sulphate and 4.5 ktpa cobalt tetroxide in contained cobalt as of 2021. Wood Mackenzie’s asset reports are built from the bottom up, incorporating several granular data metrics to ultimately produce our industry-standard cash operating costs. This report contains a detailed asset note giving you a holistic view of the asset, including an operational overview through to a timeline of events from inception to now.
