Westwood is an underground operation that uses cut and fill mining methods. The property is located 2.5km from IAMGOLD's now closed Doyon mine (40km east of Rouyn-Noranda and 80km west of Valdor, southwestern Quebec). Since the closure of Doyon in 2011, Westwood has utilised the mill facilities following refurbishment. The mine achieved commercial production in July 2014 and in December 2015, the mine plan was revised and mine life was re-estimated at 20 years. The mine produced 125koz of gold in 2017 and is expected to produce between 125 - 135koz in 2018. The mine has experienced a delayed ramp-up to full production (expected to be achieved in 2020, with average gold production over the life of mine estimated at 183koz/a).
