Asset Report
Xiangfen zinc smelter
Report summary
The plant was established in 1997. Electrolytic zinc production commenced in 2001, treating calcine produced in a converted pyrites roaster. Capacity was 26kt/a slab zinc, but this rose to 90kt/a in 2003. In 2008 & 2009, production was severely reduced due to poor market conditions and a government order to stop production during the Beijing Olympic Games. Since then there was some operation in 2012, but this plant is now assumed closed.
