Asset Report
Xiangfen (Electric) zinc smelter
Report summary
The electric furnace plant, known as the thermal plant, shared its site with the Xiangfen electrolytic zinc smelter. Capacity was originally 6kt/a but this was raised to 25kt/a in 2002. In 2009, the site was ordered to stop production during the Beijing Olympic Games. Since then there has been little production form either plant with the electric furnace plant last reported producing crude zinc in 2012. It is therefore assumed that this smelter is now closed.
