Yunnan (Kunming) copper smelter
Report summary
The Yunnan Copper Smelter was constructed in 1958 as an electric furnace smelter with nominal capacity of 60kt/a and was commissioned in 1960. By installing a second electric furnace, the smelting capacity reached 82kt/a in 1970. In the 1990's the capacity reached 100kt/a copper by the addition of additional converter capacity and electric furnace expansion. Wood Mackenzie’s asset reports are built from the bottom up, incorporating a number of granular data metrics to ultimately produce our industry standard cash operating costs. This report contains a detailed asset note giving you a holistic view of the asset, including an operational overview through to a timeline of events from inception to now. This qualitative analysis is supplemented by the associated Excel download which enables interrogation of a whole series of cost and production metrics over the life of the asset.
