Zinc will play a vital but unglamorous role in the energy transition. The need for long service lives and low maintenance costs means that zinc’s main role in the energy transition will be its traditional one – providing corrosion protection for the steel used in the build out of renewable energy. From a zinc perspective the most important use will be the build out of larger scale solar power plants
