Asset Report
Canada (Arctic) Beaufort - Mackenzie exploration basin
Report summary
The Beaufort - Mackenzie Basin lies in the Canadian Arctic and stretches in a broad strip from the Alaskan border in the west to the far reaches of the Beaufort Sea. Exploration in the basin faces several key challenges associated with remote Arctic conditions including high costs, environmental issues, and seasonal access. Oil and gas discoveries have been made, however only a handful of onshore gas finds have been deemed commercial thus far. The last well drilled in this sector of the basin was in 2009 and we do not expect further drilling activity due to the Arctic drilling ban enacted in 2016. Prospect economics are provided for both the onshore and offshore plays.
