Cyprus Sinai Levant exploration basin

Cyprus Sinai Levant exploration basin

Report summary

The potential of the Sinai – Levant Basin became apparent following the 2009 discovery and subsequent appraisal of the giant Tamar gas field in Israel. The field was discovered in the deepwater Oligo-Miocene play that extends into Cypriot acreage. The extension was proved at the end of 2011, with the giant Aphrodite discovery. Realising an export route to market remains a key challenge for Aphrodite and for any future potential discoveries.
