Kosmos Energy oil and gas exploration summary
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
Kosmos is in the midst of a transformation from a high-impact frontier explorer to a diversified full-cycle E&P company. The role of exploration within this framework is to provide low-cost, low-carbon, short-cycle opportunities in proven oil basins. This is a dramatic shift from its previous strategy in which high-risk, frontier exploration was central to the company's strategy and growth. Two acquisitions in Equatorial Guinea and the US Gulf of Mexico helped to reshape the portfolio. Infrastructure-led exploration is now the primary focus of Kosmos’ exploration activity.
