China announces new policies to support renewables
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
China revealed its Renewables Portfolio Standard and a full grid-purchasing safeguard scheme on 28 March. Both are intended to help fulfil China's commitment to carbon mitigation and cut growing curtailment levels caused by slowing demand growth, lack of transmission infrastructure and the dominant coal-centric mindset. However, these systems are not perfect and may face serious challenges when implemented.
