Energy and natural resources sectors are having to deal with the combined forces of the coronavirus pandemic, the oil price crash and an impending global recession. In week four of this weekly briefing, we look at how underreporting of case counts and fatalities is rising. More accurate reporting will help guide government responses to lockdown measures. Economies under tight lockdowns posted large contractions in output in Q1, but we expect the worst is yet to come in Q2. Our updated outlook for the global economy expects a contraction of 4% in 2020. Also this week, we assess US crude oil storage and focus on renewable technologies.
