Mexico power industry overview 2022 - Part II: Regional breakdown

Report summary

After a recovery in economic activities following the end of the lockdown measures in 2021, energy loads recovered non-homogeneously across the SIN regions. While some regions augmented their loads by more than 7%, others showed increases of less than 2%. Other differences in installed capacity and transmission infrastructure combined set differences in LMPs that vary from 706 MXN/MWh to 1103 MXN/MWh, depending on the region. This second part of the power industry overview report provides in-depth detail on power market fundamentals for every region in the SIN: development of LMPs and their components, installed capacity, generation by technology and demand.
