Nordic power: Europe’s natural battery
Report summary
This report forms part of our work on the development of forecast outlooks for major power markets in the Nordic region (Norway, Finland, Sweden and Denmark by balancing area). While it does not provide a forecast view, it does present our analysis of the information we have gathered to support our on-going model build and testing work. Subsequent documents will discuss our backtesting outcomes and then present the new hourly forecasts themselves. In this report we present data and analysis relating to the power market mix, supply-demand balance, policy drivers, zonal interactions, cross-border flows and prices. We have placed particular focus on examining the role of hydro power and its influence on price formation.
