Commodity Market Report
Shoulder season step down: Northeast power and renewables short term outlook April 2019
Report summary
Weather and wind availability drove much of the movement in monthly generation balances and prices for April. Wind generation across most of North America was 3.6 GWa higher than same time last year, and 2.5 GWa higher across ERCOT, SPP, and MISO. Still demand was also higher across most of the regional ISOs for the month, allowing gas generation to pick up generation. In terms of prices, average monthly prices saw a significant downward move, primarily due to the changing weather in April.
