Makó Trough tight gas unconventional concept play
Report summary
Basin-centred tight gas and shale gas potential is thought to exist in the Makó Trough. The Pannonian Basin is a mature, conventional oil and gas region, home to Hungary's largest field Algyö. In recent years attention has turned to the unconventional potential of the region. Falcon Oil & Gas has estimated that the Makó trough holds 40 tcf of recoverable resources within the tight gas and shale gas horizons. However, ExxonMobil's decision to exit after drilling an unsuccessful well in 2010 has cast doubt on the commercial viability of the play.
