Ordos Basin tight gas unconventional play

Report summary

The Ordos Basin is the largest onshore gas producing basin in China, before the Tarim and Sichuan basins.  Research efforts to produce its tight gas potential began near two decades ago, when both Shell and Total entered the play around 2000. Producing gas successfully from the tight, heterogeneous sands has been technically-challenging, and has required complex drilling and completion solutions.
