The Al Dhafra (Area 1) development is centred around the Haliba field, located in southeast Abu Dhabi near the Omani border. The field was discovered in 1991 but remained undeveloped until 2015. The operator, Al Dhafra Petroleum, is a joint venture (JV) between ADNOC and a Korean consortium comprising Korea National Oil Company (KNOC) and GS Energy.
