The Alpine field is located in the Colville River Unit, approximately 55 kilometres (34 miles) to the west of the Kuparuk River Unit. The field was discovered in 1994 and declared commercial in 1996. First commercial oil production started during the fourth quarter of 2000.The original Alpine facility included two drilling pads, CD-1 and CD2.
