Barossa is a giant offshore gas and condensate field located around 300 kilometres from Darwin. The Barossa development was approved by NOPSEMA in March 2018, followed by FID by the Barossa JV in March 2021. It is a subsea development tied back to the BW Opal FPSO, which can process up to 11,000 b/d condensate, 635 mmcfd Darwin LNG (DLNG) feed specification gas, and 730 mmcfd gross gas. Gas from the FPSO is piped 385 km to DLNG via two sections: the 262 km gas export pipeline (GEP) and the 123 km Darwin Pipeline Duplication (DPD). ‘Barossa Area’ refers to both the Barossa and Caldita fields. We assume that Caldita will be brought onstream in the early 2040s to support and maintain output at DLNG.
