Block 06-1 is located in the Nam Con Son Basin, 370 kilometres from shore, and contains the Lan Tay and Lan Do gas condensate fields. After several years of negotiation, PetroVietnam signed a number of commercial agreements in late-2000/early-2001, Lan Tay was developed. This was the first major gas development in Vietnam. Lan Tay started production on 22 November 2002 with the gas transported to shore via a 370 kilometre dual-phase pipeline.
