Tullow discovered the Bangora field in 2004 in eastern Bangladesh, after drilling two gas wells, Lalmai -3 and Bangora -1. Tullow initially concentrated on appraising the northern end of the discovery at Bangora with four appraisal wells and the field was declared commercial in 2006. A development plan was approved for the field in 2007.
