We look back at the key events and trends in 2023 across production, investment, M&A and decarbonisation. Kazakhstan led liquids production growth, offsetting continued decline in Azerbaijan. Gas export ambitions – both to the East and the West – focused minds across the region. Despite persistent cost and project delivery challenges, opportunities remained for the taking as key developments neared completion and major M&A deals closed.
