The Central Area Transmission System (CATS) is a natural gas transportation and processing system that transports gas through a 400-kilometre, 36-inch diameter subsea pipeline from the Central North Sea to a reception and processing terminal at Teesside in the North East of England. It was initiated in 1991, with first throughput in 1993. CATS is a wet gas line, coated in concrete, with gas and NGL transported in a single dense phase.
