Shell discovered tight oil at Sierras Blancas in 2013. It also operates adjacent blocks Coiron Amargo Sur Oeste (CASO) and Cruz de Lorena. All three blocks will be developed together.In December 2018, Shell sanctioned the full development of the project. The company indicated that the three blocks would be developed in two stages, the first one targeting an output of 40,000 b/d and the second one bringing total production to 70,000 b/d by mid-2020's.
