The Cuenca Marina Austral project encompasses a complex of fields that lie offshore Tierra del Fuego. Production began from the Cañadón Alfa-Ara-Antares complex. Only oil was produced until 1991, when gas sales commenced following the completion of the Transportadora de Gas del Sur (TGS) gas pipeline that linked the region to Buenos Aires.
