On 14 December 2016, Diamondback Energy announced the acquisition of southern Delaware player Brigham Resources for US$2.43 billion in a combination of cash (US$1.62 billion) and equity (US$0.81 billion). Brigham Resources has amassed 76,319 net acres across Reeves and Pecos counties, with flowing production of 9,482 boe/d (77% oil) from the Wolfcamp and Bone Spring tight oil plays.
