Origin Energy has sold a 10% stake in its flagship APLNG project to EIG for US$1.6 billion, adding to Australia's burgeoning M&A market in 2021. APLNG, the biggest of three coal seam gas-to-LNG plants on Australia's east coast, supplies both Asian LNG and the local market. After a rocky 2020, which saw demand and prices plummet, Asian demand has rebounded, with LNG exports nearing record highs and commodity prices returning to levels seen during the last boom.
