For almost 30 years, Equinor has been active in Russia's upstream. The company has built a reputation for targeting challenging, frontier oil and gas activity. Success so far has been limited, with the company's remaining upstream value in Russia at almost US$500 million. However, Equinor's value position in Russia could be enhanced through its successful partnership with Russian state entities, most notably Rosneft.
