The Greater Laggan Area comprises the Laggan, Tormore, Edradour, Glenlivet and Glendronach fields. These are the first gas fields to be developed in the West of Shetland region. To date, the commercial developments in the West of Shetland area have all been predominantly oil fields, particularly the large-scale Schiehallion and Clair projects.Laggan was discovered by Britoil in 1986, but had no export route available and remained undeveloped.
