Three months after the new government took office, a presidential decree was promulgated, and an Omnibus Law bill was sent to Congress. These laws were not approved, and it is uncertain whether an updated version will be voted on again. The country’s short-term goal is to produce one million barrels a day. With adequate rig and frac spread availability, this goal will be achievable by the decade's end. However, expanding the Oldelval oil pipeline and its related export infrastructure in Bahia Blanca is necessary to support production growth. We expect gas exports will face more near-term infrastructure challenges than oil. Besides timely investment in evacuation capacity and availability of rigs, an improved legal framework for investments is required, as well as better importing mechanisms for equipment and related infrastructure.
