Indigenous players dominate Angola’s onshore licensing round
Report summary
On 22 January 2024, Angola’s Agencia Nacional de Petroleo, Gas e Biocombustiveis (ANPG) announced the results of its 2023 onshore licensing round. With 53 bids submitted, four of the twelve offered blocks have been awarded. Three other blocks were partially awarded. The list of licence winners embodies the increasingly diverse corporate landscape in Angola’s upstream sector. Indigenous companies feature heavily. Etu Energias, ACREP and Sonangol P&P are the Angolan companies named as operators, while Grupo Simples Oil and Enagol have been awarded non-operated stakes.
