Jidong oil field complex is situated in the northern coast of the Bohai Gulf. It includes onshore and offshore fields in less than 5 metres water depth. Since 2002, horizontal and directional drilling have been extensively implemented to boost liquids production. Over the last decade, output steadily declined.Nanpu was discovered in 2007 in the offshore tidal area of the Bohai Gulf.
