The Kurdamir Development Area is located in the southern part of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), about 90 kilometres southeast of Kirkuk.Three appraisal wells have been drilled at the field, confirming the presence of a large natural gas cap with a significant oil leg beneath it. Oil has been encountered in the Oligocene, Eocene and Cretaceous reservoirs.
