Small, niche low permeability plays in the Lower 48 are attracting more and more capital as operators relentlessly work to turn marginal tight oil exploration targets into full scale commercial projects. The Gallup Sands, Piceance Powder River Niobrara, and Chainman Shale concept plays in the US Rockies region are summarised in this presentation. All of these assets are tight oil plays where established shale experts are all hoping to create more top-tier unconventional projects.
