Report summary
The North Malay Basin Gas Project comprises a collection of gas fields offshore Peninsular Malaysia, bordering the MTJDA. The fields within PM301 and PM302 were discovered by Petronas Carigali and the Shell/Petronas Carigali joint venture, Carigali Shell Mutiara (CS Mutiara). In June 2009, Hess purchased Shell's interests in PM301 and PM302, enabling it to utilise its experience of developing the adjacent A-18 acreage in the MTJDA. In 2012, Hess acquired a 50% interest in the Bergading field from Petronas Carigali, equalising interests across the area and therefore accelerating progress on the North Malay Basin Gas Project. The first phase of the North Malay Basin Gas Project involved the installation of an Early Production System (EPS) over the Bunga Kamelia field.
