Alberta’s Carbon Competitiveness Incentive Regulation (CCIR) came into effect on 1 January 2018 and replaced the Specified Gas Emitter Regulation (SGER). CCIR implements an output based allocation (OBA) system which benefits projects with low emissions intensity and penalizes projects with high emissions intensity. In this analysis we dive into Alberta's carbon regulations and carbon pricing, using our asset-level models to quantify the impacts for oil sands projects and producers.
