Permian Well Tracker: Q2 2017
Report summary
We examine the themes US L48 operators are chasing, backed up by trends evident from our North America Well Analysis Tool data set. Notable wells are highlighted, and we hand pick some "wells to watch" as potential trendsetters in the near future. Proppant loading: Bigger is not necessarily better, as the honing of proppant loading towards sweet spots suggests. Our analysis of some Permian wells indicates that beyond a point, higher proppant loading is not beneficial, and can even be detrimental, to economics. Wolfcamp A-X/Y: Some operators are drilling test wells to understand the intricacies of the Wolfcamp A lithology and quantify upside potential across their acreage positions. Activity so far has been concentrated in the Delaware, although the Wolfcamp A-X/Y may not be present across the entire basin.
