Report summary

To date no commercial volumes of oil or gas have been discovered in Portugal. All domestic oil and gas requirements are met by imports.Onshore exploration drilling in Portugal began in 1906. Around 80 onshore wells were drilled in the Lusitanian Basin between 1939 and 1963. Another wave of onshore exploration began in the mid 1970s but results were disappointing.
