Report summary

The Prirazlomnoye field was discovered in 1989 and is Russia's first and only offshore Arctic oil development. It lies on the Pechora Sea shelf approximately 60 kilometres from the shore and in shallow waters. The nearest major ports of Arkhangelsk and Murmansk are located around 1 000 kilometres from Prirazlomnoye.Initial plans envisaged bringing the field onstream in the mid 1990s.
