Report summary
2018 ended with a bang. A flurry of last-minute FIDs saw the year-end total soar to 49 major projects, a big jump from the 35 sanctioned in 2017. And not only did more projects cross the line, but the average development was also much bigger in scale, bolstered by giant investments in Russia, Canada and the Middle East. In total over 33 billion boe of reserves and US$185 billion of investment made FID in 2018. Analyse the tracker to see what projects got the green light, and what we think will happen next in 2019.
